Award-winning fleet management company BT Fleet Solutions has been recognised at CIPD's People Management Awards 2017 for Best Apprenticeship Scheme.
BT Fleet Solutions fought off tough competition to win the award on September 26, during the award ceremony at the iconic Grosvenor House, Park Lane, which saw more than 900 human resources and learning and development professionals attend.
The company has been recognised for the apprenticeship programme it has developed in partnership with Warwickshire College and Westminster UTC (University Technical College). The course combines on-the-job training with classroom-based learning, and every student who passes the course is guaranteed a job.
Henry Brace, managing director at BT Fleet Solutions, commented "To be recognised outside of the automotive industry for such an award is a credit to everyone in the business, from those that run and oversee the scheme, to those in our garages who invest their time in mentoring and training. A great achievement and one we are extremely proud of. We would also like to congratulate all of the award winners and nominees."
This has been a successful programme for the company who have quadrupled overall apprentice numbers between 2014 and 2016. All those who qualified since 2015 have accepted permanent jobs, with 85 per cent saying they would recommend the scheme to a friend.
The judges were impressed with BT Fleet Solutions' continued innovation and singled out the "trailblazing" 'Girls into Engineering' programme, which saw us take on our first female apprentice technicians.
The CIPD People Management Awards are the most prestigious and competitive awards in the UK for excellence in people management and development. Each category of awards typically receives 200 applications and encompasses a written submission, formal presentation and Q&A to a panel of experts from the industry and academia.
