BT awarded Founder Member status of DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme

BT has become a founder member of the new DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme. Operated through the Fleet Solutions division, the fleet is one of the UK's largest, with Earned Recognition status reinforcing its industry standing and sector expertise.

The announcement was made during the launch of Earned Recognition at this year's Commercial Vehicle Show (24 – 26 April) in Birmingham. DVSA Chief Executive Gareth Llewellyn welcomed the founder members as the “cream of the crop” amongst fleet operators.

Earned Recognition covers the whole BT internal fleet managed by Fleet Solutions, including Openreach, Supply Chain and other BT branded vehicles.  As such, it confirms the company's commitment to best practice as a fleet operator and its determination to be a leader within the industry.

To achieve Earned Recognition, BT has demonstrated adherence to DVSA compliance guidelines through a rigorous audit.  To maintain this status, the company will report its performance figures to the DVSA monthly to show it is consistently achieving the standards required for membership.

This is a real landmark, because it is demonstrable proof of our excellence at the highest level possible for a UK fleet operator.

Dave Edwards Senior Compliance Manager BT Fleet Solutions

We declared our interest in becoming a founder member at the 2017 CV Show, so it's fitting that we were presented with our certificate at the same event this year.

We've worked hard to achieve Earned Recognition at the first time of asking.  We've introduced new reporting for full transparency, and identified areas of opportunity for improvement, to deliver even sharper service and performance.

For BT's fleet, practical benefits of membership include reduced vehicle checks, keeping vehicles on the road.  And, by leading by example when it comes to best practice, it gives our external customers the reassurance that we give them the right advice to help them stay safe, roadworthy and profitable.

The DVSA has launched Earned Recognition for exemplar fleets who have demonstrated consistently high levels of compliance to driving and vehicle standards. The reward for companies with Earned Recognition will be to receive fewer routine inspections, keeping compliant fleets on the road while the DVSA focusses on targeting serial offenders, in its stated aim of 'helping you stay safe on Britain's roads.'
